Carbon Fiber Laminated Walnut Over the years various materials have been substituted for solid walnut primarily among those arms that may be called upon to perform in a variety of weather and altitude conditions. In other words, we want to be able to sight in at sea level in the summer months fully expecting it to be dead-on in the rain soaked Alaskan timber, in a Colorado blizzard and/or under dry desert-like conditions on the African plains (with an occasional downpour to be expected of course.) Fact of the matter is that fiberglass is the best material under any and all conditions, multi-directional carbon fiber even better yet.
