Women who are already involved in groups and shooting already know that women shoot guns too. The national average for the ratio of new shooters and concealed carry permit holders being women is rising and is currently between 15-25 percent! That is great news for the ladies. But look out men… women are often times competitive and very accurate.
You won’t have to look very far for a women’s shooting group. Women shooting groups are starting to surface and become prominent with events being held across the country both at the national level as well as smaller local organizations like Gals and Guns in Alamogordo, New Mexico.
A Girl and A Gun Club
A Girl and A Gun Club is a relatively young but rapidly growing national group. Their organization and chapters are booming (no, pun intended) and are becoming more and more available. A Girl and A Gun Club group recently had their annual conference near Waco, Texas.
A Girl and A Gun Women’s Shooting League is an organization established by women shooters for women shooters. AG & AG events are intended to be fun, social gatherings where women can come together for support, encouragement, ask questions in a safe and nonjudgmental environment, improve on their marksmanship, and bond together in the shooting community.
Women approach shooting much differently then men do. As you may expect their original lack of knowledge, understanding, technical and practical shooting experience is often accompanied with fear. But once past that initial obstacle there is no stopping these gals from learning fast and increasing their skills – often times being able to out shoot their male friends and family.
We found this great interview to share so you can see and hear some of what a women’s shooting group offers. And be sure to check out the A Girl and Gun website too.
